During my medical school training, I was dismayed to learn from my professors that “doctors don’t cure disease; we merely help patients live with their illnesses.”
It wasn’t long before I found out how right they were. As I continued my studies, I discovered that most of the drugs we prescribed relieved symptoms but did not address the cause of the problem. Moreover adverse side effects resulting from out therapies were far too common.
In the 20 years since I graduated from medical school, things have not gotten much better, jut more expensive.
Modern medicine presents us with a paradox. On the one hand, new drugs and technological advances have enabled us to achieve better results than ever before in case of severe infections, trauma and surgical emergencies. In contrast to these exciting developments in acute care medicine, the conventional treatment of most chronic diseases leaves a lot to be desired.
As I came to recognize these limitations, I began to investigate various alternatives, including the use of dietary modifications, nutritional supplements, Homeopathy and Ayurveda. It soon became clear that the natural approach was safer, less expensive and often more effective than the methods that were being taught in medical schools. Patients who had failed to respond to the best that modern medicine had to offer frequently had dramatic results with these “Alternative / Natural treatments.” Coming cross the fantastic results, I decided to learn alternative medicine and complete bachelors and masters in Homeopathy and Ayurveda.
I also found that many effective natural remedies and therapies had already been scientifically documented in medical journals in the countries like India, USA and UK; although most of the reports were not widely known in the conventional medical community.
During past several years, there ha been renewed interest in natural medicine and, at the same time, an explosion of research documenting the effectiveness of the alternative approach. Unfortunately, the average doctor still has little knowledge or understanding of how to use natural medicine, and even parishioners who emphasis nutrition and herbal therapies do not always agree about what work and what dose not.
When it comes to using alternative medicine and unconventional therapy, many decisions are yours to take. Of course, you want to make informed choices, particularly when those choices affect your own health and that of your family. You need up-to-date and reliable source of information.
